Frequently asked questions
What is SignDo?
SignDo is an AI-powered personal ASL workspace in Early Access. It turns your signing into editable text (using your camera or an uploaded clip), and turns words, speech, and uploads into ASL Avatar output.
How accurate is it?
Results may vary. SignDo uses AI models that keep improving, but recognition depends on lighting, framing, signing style, and clip quality. That's why every result is editable — you approve the words before you use them.
Is SignDo a substitute for an interpreter?
No. SignDo is not a substitute for a qualified interpreter and does not satisfy legal accommodation requirements. Don't use it for emergency, legal, medical, financial, or other high-stakes communication.
What happens to my videos?
Raw clips and voice input are retained for up to 24 hours after processing (up to 7 days on the Plus plan). Your job history keeps only your last 10 results (50 on the Plus plan) for up to 30 days, and you can delete any of them sooner. You can optionally share a specific job with support until the case closes or the share is revoked or expires. ASL Lab is the exception: clips you record in that invite-only program are handled separately under the ASL Lab consent terms and are not covered by these automatic deletion windows.
Who gets my ASL Lab clips?
SignDo and CLERC. CLERC is the sign language data company that annotates ASL Lab clips and builds the research dataset. This applies only to ASL Lab. Ordinary SignDo translation clips are never part of it.
How do minutes work?
Usage is minute-based in both directions. Fast and Balanced both use minutes at 1× — Balanced is the default model. Voice/audio input counts at 1/4 rate, so 1 minute of audio uses 15 seconds of your minutes, plus the normal ASL reply charge. Live modes: Sign to Text counts at 1×; Quick Convo counts at 1× only while you sign, plus 0.10× for always-on speech captions; Voice to Sign counts at 1.75×; ASL Dictation counts at 1×. Plan minutes reset monthly and don't roll over. Top-up minutes roll over and expire after 12 months. The minimum billable job is 5 seconds, rounded up to the nearest 5 seconds.
How does voice or audio input work?
You can dictate into the text box in supported browsers, or record/upload an audio clip up to 60 seconds for SignDo to transcribe and turn into an ASL Avatar reply. The transcript is shown with the result and can be edited and signed again. Accuracy may vary with background noise, microphone quality, accent, and speech clarity.
What if a job fails?
If a SignDo system failure causes a job to produce no output, you are not charged — the reserved minutes are returned automatically and the app says so explicitly.
Is there a trial?
Yes. New accounts get limited trial credits to try both directions before choosing a plan.
What devices are supported?
SignDo runs in a modern browser on desktop and mobile with camera access. The selfie camera is the default, uploads work everywhere, and voice input is available in supported browsers.
Can organizations use SignDo?
Organizations can register for evaluation with organization details during signup. Evaluation use only — SignDo does not replace interpreters or accommodation obligations. Custom organization plans require contacting us.
How do I get help?
Email [email protected] or use the support form in the app settings. You can optionally share a specific job for troubleshooting.
